"Children of Men" Wins the Scripter Award
According to Oscarwatch, "Children of Men" has taken the Scripter award from the nominees announced just last week (gotta respect that turnaround).
The only Scripter winners to miss out on an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay were "The Hurricane" in 1999, "A Civil Action" in 1998 and "84 Charing Cross Road" in 1987.
Comments
"A Civil Action" also missed in 1998.
Nevertheless, this is a major boost for the work of Cuaron and company.

Is this award likely to make any difference in light of the WGA and Golden Globe snubs?

like i stated over on Oscarwatch, the only film that has won the Scripter and gone on to an Oscar nomination WITHOUT a WGA nomination was 1993's A River Runs Through It.. so Children of Men's chances are pretty slim.
