10/29 Chart Update
Lots of movement this week, none of which should be considered representative of personal opinion, mind you.
"The Great Debaters" is making the rounds (everything from "I loved it" to "it's a TV movie"), a few have seen "Sweeney Todd" and "Charlie Wilson's War" is still to be seen.
When things settle down, I'll get back into the review groove. For now:

I think American Gangster is being campaigned as an original screenplay, at least according to the FYC ads.

Kris, I really don't understand why you don't have Ryan Gosling at least in your top 10 for Lars and the Real Girl, and the film for screenplay consideration. I think this film as actually picking up great word of mouth steam. Everything I read says that based on performance (and we know that's not everything in oscar world) Gosling should be nominated. Having seen the film, I must agree. I honestly don't think I will see 5 performances this year that are all better than Gosling's Lars.

Mike: My reasoning has to do with the fact that the film will not get an Academy screening here in Los Angeles. That doesn't kill a film's Oscar chances by any means, but if I see that MGM is flooding the market with screeners, I'll take note.
For what it's worth, Gosling would be, like, 11. :)
Though Del Toro and Things We Lost in the Fire is dying (if not dead). So I'll reassess next monday.

Kris-
Question about your new blog with Variety (looks good, BTW)...Will you be adding an RSS feed so that readers can subscribe to the blog? That makes it MUCH easier to stay on top of things. Thanks!
