So Kris saw THERE WILL BE BLOOD, and now all of its major predictions (save actor and cinematography) have been yanked from the sidebar. Uh oh?
Posted by: TheJeff | October 26, 2007 11:47 PM
I assume this is an indication that Kris didn't like the movie.

I think it's more likely that Kris thinks it's too good, too difficult to be recognized by the Academy.

Kris - given that you seem to think well of Sweeney's oscar chances - what about Rickman or Cohen in supporting actor?? If Sweeney is that good - one or both of them could get in - frankly - ain't it finally Rickman's turn ??

The Actress predictions are absurd. It's like a worst-case scenario.
If the Charlie Wilson's War trailer was any indication, this is not a major contender. Nichols hasn't seen lots of love from the Academy since Working Girl.
Oh, and I love that The Simpsons Movie ranks fifth on your Animated Feature predictions behind Surf's Up. That's not, um, insane.

Why the sudden surge for Sweeney?
Kris, did you get an early peak? Heard something from a good source? Receive a fruit basket from Tim Burton?

Jamie- I highly doubt he liked it. When Kris saw The Assassination of Jesse James, Juno, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, all those went up in his predictions. When he saw No Country for Old Men, that went way down. If he completely took this out of his best picture list, then he must have really not liked it. He said on the Variety blog "That's right, we're all expected to be nice enough to hold our thoughts until the Nov. 5 unveiling of the film in San Francisco, at which point the flood gates will certainly go down in a hurry." That doesn't sound like he's going to be so nice on that date.
Then again, No Country for Old Men is showing little weakness despite Kris' negative review. No offense Kris, but your predix I think are more your preference than what will actually happen. I could be wrong.

My predix are never my preference, b. They're never anything more than what I think the Academy will do. Predicting would be a useless exercise otherwise.

Kris, no love for Nick Cave's score for Jesse James? It's the best of the year so far. Everyone should go to itunes or wherever and listen to every track...WOW. AMAZING.
