Anyone with an interest in this care to explain what’s exciting about it? I’m genuinely curious.

Well, that it could be every bit the movie that Speed Racer wanted to be. That’s one explanation. I find the visuals really well done, but I’ve never seen the original, so…no comment on the plot.

I haven’t seen the original, but I must say I really liked the trailer. Great use of visuals, silence, and music near the end. Looks like alot of fun. As Joel said it might be everything that Speed Racer wanted to be.

I wonder if the Academy will make up for disqualifying the the first film from Best Visual Effects because they said using computers was cheating by awarding this one

PS- this is the same trailer shown last year at SDCC so I believe this is just a proof of concept deal.

The fact that Daft Punk is doing the music for the film is reason enough to watch this.

Yes, but I would bet alot of money that “New Moon” will be alot worst than Tron 2.

Daft Punk > Thom Yorke, anyway.
This actually looks really “cool”. I don’t like the original, as conceptually and visually ace as it it it is also just not a good movie. I hope this one is better.

No love for “The Eraser”? That album is a thing of beauty.
As for “Tron,” the original entirely passed me by, so I’m not quite getting the surfeit of years-in-advance hype. What gives?
