Finally, something we Brits are getting ahead of the States.
The US release coincides nicely with her appearance on Broadway in the Royal Court revival of “The Seagull.” (Spectacular when I saw it last year.) That can only help her.

Kristin Scott Thomas is now back in the Oscar game. Her absence from the Oscar scene after The English Patient has been long.

KST is such a terrific actress – manages to constantly punch through even in supporting roles (she stole The Other Boleyn Girl from several bigger ’stars’). Friends in Paris have told me this is the finest work of her career, so i can’t wait.
And why is she ranked below Kate Beckinsale on this site’s oscar charts?!

KST is one of the most elegant and talented actresses of her generation and I heard excellent reviews of her subte and emothional role in “I’ve Loved You So Long” since Berlin, cal it her Best and Finnest Work of her Career. Maybe the only weak point is that another french language film, but I have faith that unleast KST could be surprises at the awards season

I saw this film in Paris, and I was extremely moved by her performance and also that of the rest of the cast. It’s a very powerful film and it leaves you thinking at the end if you would have made the same difficult choices. Many people might say that the story line is formulaic and simplistic, but after watching the film you realize that it has several profound messages. What I loved about Ms. Scott Thomas’ performance is that it isn’t overdone and yet, it leaves you with a powerful feeling in your gut. She is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful women in the world and yet, here, she has allowed herself to be filmed in the raw…no make-up…with all the skin blemishes exposed. I thought that was very brave of her and as a result, it adds to one of the most soulfull performance I’ve seen in my whole life. It’s all about the power of relationships, forgiveness, and difficult choices. A must see. I think you’ll want to embrace your sibling, your grandparent, your child after this one.
