The history of Dr. Amadeus Arkham

This one’s for the video game fans, which I understand might be a considerable minority, but this comes out in less than a week.  Color me stoked:

I have seen all the trailers for this game and this one is probably the coolest. I don’t have a game station at home (my last was the Sega Genesis system in the early 90s!), but seeing the video from this game makes me want to go out buy a system just so I can play Arkham Asylum.

I love how the programmers used Arkham’s backstory from the graphic novel, Arkham Asylum. That’s just too cool.

It seems a lot of care went into making this Batman game, which is great considering people’s opinions of the last group of Batman games.

The only negative thing I can think of about this particular game is that the storyline of Joker taking over Arkham would make a great film sometime in the future- now if someone attempts it, they will probably get criticized for adapting/copying a videogame. Small complaint, though. It looks great.

    Thank for posting that, Kris.

Haha, so you’re only complaint is that the story was too good! Nice. :)

Yeah, I mean the game looks incredible. The storyline of the Joker taking over AA would be a great film, don’t you think?

The final confrontation between Batman & Joker being very psychological- I’m channeling something like from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker where the Joker is showing that eerie 35mm film of how he tortured Robin. Something like that.

I also thought it was interesting how one of the previous trailers made AA to be an island prison. I haven’t picked up a Batman comic in years, but I don’t think AA is an island prison in the comic continuity.

It is cool, just the same.

    @ Jamieson:

Jeez, the more I read about this game and see the screen-grabs, the more I think about getting a gaming system.

    Thank you for posting.

This game looks absolutely terrific, and the reviews have been glowing all around, from what I’ve seen. Lookin’ forward to picking it up in a few days.
