Snapped Tuesday afternoon over lunch at the Four Seasons. Interview to come, maybe next week/over the holiday. Fascinating discussion on “The Contender,” “Starman,” “Heaven’s Gate,” etc., including, of course, plenty of talk about “Crazy Heart.” Stay tuned.

I’m not the only one who thought he was pretty excellent in Iron Man, am I?

Really looking forward to the interview. Any talk of True Grit? Man, Bridges is on a role.

Did you chat about “True Grit”? His work in “Fearless” should have won him the Oscar — the scenes of the plane going down and that serene look on his face are incredible…breathtaking…

Look forward to it. I’m also hopin he has something to say about his involvement in “True Grit”.
Like the guy and I think it was his turn in “The Fisher King” that first made me interested in his work.

I’d give anything to age as well as Bridges, but I think I’ve already aged worse.

Funny you post this article. Today I had a conversation with someone about Crazy Heart and how I really was only wanting to see it for Jeff Bridges.
She remarked something along the lines of, “Yeah, he’s a good actor, but I can’t remember him doing something memorable.” I was floored and starting listing a few movies off the top of my head – Fearless, The Last Picture Show, The Big Lebowski, The Fisher King, The Fabulous Baker Boys – and her only response was “Oh, yeah…” That situation pretty much describes Jeff Bridges; consistently great yet overlooked.
@ John: Yet another agreement on Best Actor! I swear, if the Oscars assigned you to pick Best Actor, Nick Davis to pick Best Supporting Actor, Nat Rogers to pick Best Actress, and Brian Herrera to pick Best Supporting Actress, I’d be a much more satisfied awards watcher……except I’d have to kidnap you and steal your identity during the 81st so that Mickey Rourke could win.

I’m jealous! Like Danny, I’ve always heard the Bridges is a gracious, kind, considerate man. I’ve never forgotten an Esquire interview with him back in the early 90s. The way he spoke about his wife was so beautiful it choked me up. He also gave very wise words about romantic female co-stars. Basically steered clear of them offset… Said you’re in emotionally-charged situations with very attractive people. Wasn’t even going to risk temptation – his marriage is too precious. Smart guy…

Off topic: You should discuss Sandra Bullock’s chances at a Best Actress nomination now that The Blind Side is her biggest opening film to date. This could be a very big deal for her now that the movie is both well received and a hit.

Saw the otherwise forgettable “Men Who Stare at Goats” this weekend. The funniest thing in the movie was Jeff Bridges’ braid.
