OSCAR PREDICTION CHARTS — January 12, 2009

NUTSHELL: The major guilds have all spoken — SAG, PGA, DGA, WGA — and the season’s mystery is slowly unfolding. The five we’ve had predicted for a month and a half have proven to elicit the most passion across the board, while “The Wrestler” is still hovering as an obvious industry favorite. However, it might be worth pointing out the rumblings inside the industry, namely the support drumming up for Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino” in a big way. In some circles, it’s the #6 film of the competition, coming up on the outside as a possible spoiler on January 22. The “WALL-E” support is there, but minimal (Walt Disney had its chance) and “Doubt” has proven to be all about the acting. So…watch out.
