If you had to name ONE performance you were most curious about this year, what would it be?
Mine? Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood."
The world needs more Day-Lewis.

My curiosity has also been piqued by Daniel-Day Lewis (and Paul Dano) with There Will Be Blood.
But I'd say the one I'm most curious about is Nicole Kidman in His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass. She should make a superb villain. Not to mention she's waaaay overdue for a role that actually gets people into theaters.
I can't wait to see her evolution with that character... and hope she gets the reward that was stolen from her by Gwyneth Paltrow the first time around!
Mine is Day-Lewis' as well. I have been highly anticipating this role for quite a while now.
If Guerrilla finds its way into theaters this year, then I am also highly anticipating Benecio del Toro's take on Che.
First of all, Daniel Day-Lewis is great in any movie he's in. IMO, he's the best, male-living actor. And the fact that P.T. Anderson is directing him is a dream. P.T. gets great performances out of his actors ( Wahlberg, Cruise.)
I'm also intrigued about Tom Hanks' in Charlie Wilson's War. I hope Hanks returns to form. I'm also interested in Tom Cruise's performance in Lions for Lambs. Can he make a comeback?

Well, I'm not a HUGE fan of Daniel Day-Lewis, but I do think he deserved his oscar for My Left Foot, and PTA is a god when it comes to getting great performances out of actors, no matter how accomplished they are. So count me in, Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood it is!
Adding new ones to the already impressive list above:
Robert de Niro in Stardust, coz early reviews said he's the best of the bunch
Runner-ups are:
Russell Crowe and Denzel
Washington in American Gangster
Just about every performance in The Simpsons Movie!!! (Hey, Gerard didn't say that we must mention live-action performance!) Furthermore, I'm just too excited to see what they'll do with those Springfieldians now that they're going with the epic scope and all (just see the final trailer and you'll know what I mean)
Mark Ruffalo, Reservation Road
Daniel Day Lewis, There Will Be Blood
Russell and Denzel, American Gangster
Tom Hanks, Charlie Wilsons War
Angelina Jolie, A Mighty Heart
Cate Blanchett, Golden Age
The whole cast of Lions for Lambs

Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in 3:10 to Yuma.
Having seen the original, I would have picked each of them to play the other guy's role, which is what makes it so interesting.
