Peter Berg’s “Lone Survivor” tells the story of four Navy SEALS ambushed in an ill-fated covert mission to thwart a high0level Taliban operative. It’s apparently solid enough for the studio to position it in the thick of the awards hunt with a 12/27 qualifying release platformed out to other markets in January of 2014. After the disaster that was “Battleship,” Berg could sure use a bounce back.

Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 10:50 am · June 1st, 2013
The concept of movie stardom is evolving. People go to the theaters to see their favorite brands rather than their favorite actors. But is it really as simple as that? Or is the promise of the surprise hit still enough to lend hope to original concepts and creative thinking?

Little marketing hooks like this are always fun for the geek in us all. Sometimes they’re a stretch, sometimes you can get lost toying with this and that. Confession: I totally “Frankenweenie”-fied my cat last year.
