'Despicable Me 2' comes out strong with Annie Awards nominations

It was Universal’s “Despicable Me 2” leading the way today with 11 nominations for the 41st annual Annie Awards. But Disney’s “Frozen” — not far behind with 10 mentions — was the only film to receive nominations for Best Animated Feature, Best Direction and Best Writing.

GKIDS sets animated documentary 'Approved for Adoption' for Nov. release

Indie animation distributor has announced a Nov. release date for the animated documentary “Approved for Adoption.” But while it will qualify as a documentary, it turns out Academy rules will keep it from qualifying as an animated feature.
