'Crouching Tiger' sequel to be directed by 'The Matrix' and 'Kill Bill' choreographer Yuen Wo Ping

The Weinstein Company has announced today that production on “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny” will begin in March of 2014 in Asia. Yuen Wo Ping is set to direct after serving as a choreographer on the original film, which was directed by Ang Lee was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning four.

For veteran Canadian composer Mychael Danna, his journey with “Life of Pi” began 10 years ago when he read Yann Martel’s novel. “I remember thinking, ‘I hope nobody makes a film of this book and wrecks it,’” he says.

With the costumers set to declare on Tuesday, the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ 60th annual Golden Reel Awards, announced this evening, were the penultimate industry group to hand out awards in advance of next weekend’s Oscar showdown. And it was “Life of Pi” that came out the big winner, taking two awards on the night. But 007 had some plans of his own.
