The Detroit Film Critics Society has announced nominations for 2013, and it’s not “12 Years a Slave” or “Her” or “Gravity” dominating the list, but indie “Short Term 12” and NYFCC winner “American Hustle,” with five nods apiece.

'Silver Linings Playbook' wins with Detroit film critics

After leading the way with nominations recently, David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook” has been crowned Best Picture by the Detroit Film Critics Society. David O. Russell won Best Director and Best Screenplay, Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress and Robert De Niro took Best Supporting Actor.

The Detroit Film Critics Society has announced its list of nominees, and they refreshingly go their own way in a number of areas. “Silver Linings Playbook” led the way with seven nominations and Sarah Polley’s “Take This Waltz” was a favorite, too. Other unique picks include Bill Murray in the Best Actor line-up for “Hyde Park on Hudson” and Greta Gerwig in Best Actress for “Damsels in Distress.”
