With a heavyweight jury including Mike Leigh, Jake Gyllenhaal and ‘A Separation’ director Asghar Farhadi, February’s Berlin Film Festival will be hoping for a world-class Competition lineup. First on the list: Filipino provocateur Brillante Mendoza’s “Captured,” starring Isabelle Huppert.

'A Separation' wins BBC World Cinema Award

If you were still in any doubt that Asghar Farhadi’s superb Iranian marital drama “A Separation” is this year’s Chosen One on the world cinema circuit, there was further confirmation this week, as the film scooped the annual BBC Four World Cinema Award.
