It’s Oscar Sunday and by tonight, it’ll be all done but the cryin’, as they say. But as we gear up for today’s festivities, I thought I’d take a look at the box office of this year’s Oscar nominees for the first time this season.

'Rango' wins big at the 39th Annie Awards

The 39th annual Annie Awards were held this evening at UCLA’s Royce Hall in West Los Angeles and it was Gore Verbinski’s “Rango” that came out on top.

Oscar Guide 2011: Best Animated Feature Film

Early on in the season it was decided that a full slate of five nominees in the Best Animated Feature Film category would be allowed, as there were at least 16 qualifying titles. However, that didn’t necessary mean there WOULD be five, as the scoring system within the branch might still have yielded less that were deemed worthy. But in the end, five managed to surface after all.

Predicting the 2011 PGA nominees

This year’s PGA nominees will do little to clear up the Best Picture scenario at the Oscars. Why? Because the guild will be chalking up a full slate of 10 nominees once again, despite the fact that the Academy’s final line-up could be anywhere from five to 10. So what will the PGA spring for?

Utah critics award 'Drive,' '50/50'

The Utah Film Critics Association has chosen “Drive” as the Best Picture of the year. The film also won Best Supporting Actor for Albert Brooks and Best Cinematography. The group handed two awards to Jonathan Levine’s “50/50,” Best Actor for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Best Original Screenplay.

'Rango,' 'Puss in Boots,' 'Tintin' and more fight it out for Best Animated Feature Film

This year’s race for Best Animated Feature Film is a bit of a full one. After only 15 titles qualified last year (yielding just three nominees), the total number of qualifying films in the hunt this time around is 19, meaning we’ll have a set of five contenders when the nominees are announced in January. And now’s as good a time as any to handicap the field.

Hans Zimmer bows out of this year's Oscar race

Nine-time Oscar nominee Hans Zimmer has opted to sit out this year’s Best Original Score race by refusing to personally enter any of his 2011 scores for consideration — including “Rango” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”
