The New York Film Critics Online also jumped into the fun on a very busy day for the precursor circuit by handing “12 Years a Slave” its Best Picture award. “Gravity” helmer Alfonso Cuarón took Best Director while acting honors went to Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto and Lupita Nyong’o: the consensus quartet at this stage, I think it’s safe to say. 'Zero Dark Thirty' tops New York Film Critics Online winners

Just minutes after the Boston Society of Film Critics crowned “Zero Dark Thirty” the year’s best film, the New York Film Critics Online went and did the very same thing. They also spotlighted Kathryn Bigelow in the Best Director category (as well as Mark Boal’s screenplay), and, like Boston, went with Daniel Day-Lewis and Emmanuelle Riva in the lead acting categories.

'The Artist' wins Best Pic from NY online critics, 'Bridesmaids' clearly a favorite

The New York Film Critics Online have gone the way of the rest and awarded “The Artist” the prize for Best Picture of 2011. Michael Shannon and Meryl Streep were also singled out.
