Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 5:31 pm · February 18th, 2012
The 62nd annual ACE Eddie Awards, recognizing achievement in film editing, were held this evening, and the big surprise came in the drama category. Alexander Payne’s “The Descendants” beat out fellow Best Picture nominees “Hugo,” “Moneyball” and “Hugo,” as well as the slickly cut (by last year’s Oscar winners) “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” for the award.

Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 9:26 am · February 11th, 2012
The Gurus o’ Gold collective of Oscar dorks (yours truly included) at Movie City News have offered up final-ish predictions. Oscar Guide 2011: Best Animated Feature Film
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 2:14 pm · January 31st, 2012
Early on in the season it was decided that a full slate of five nominees in the Best Animated Feature Film category would be allowed, as there were at least 16 qualifying titles. However, that didn’t necessary mean there WOULD be five, as the scoring system within the branch might still have yielded less that were deemed worthy. But in the end, five managed to surface after all.

Let’s just say that if you were expecting any film besides “The Artist” to triumph at the Producers’ Guild of America Awards, you clearly haven’t been paying attention. Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 4:51 pm · January 19th, 2012
The Iowa Film Critics have joined and drowned in the on-going chorus of year-end kudos-dishers. Drowned-in because it’s all just a blur now. “The Descendants” came out on top, winning both Best Picture and Best Director. And there’s Melissa McCarthy, yet again.

'Hanna,' 'Pirates' among Cinema Audio Society surprises, 'Transformers' snubbed
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 4:30 am · January 19th, 2012
