The Broadcast Film Critics Association has announced its nominees for the 17th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, and there are literally zero surprises, across the board. It’s the roll call of Oscar contenders the list has turned into, more and more.

The St. Louis Gateway Film Critics Association has declared nominations this season, spreading the wealth from heavies like “The Artist” and “Drive” to obvious favorites like “Hanna” and “The Muppets.”

“The Artist” has won Best Picture from the Boston Society of Film Critics. “Hugo” and “Margaret” were close runners-up, and indeed, both looked like favorites throughout the vote until the last prize was handed out.

As predicted, Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia” won top honors at the European Film Awards on Saturday, but received some karmic payback when fellow Dane Susanne Bier, whom he insulted in his now-famous Cannes press conference, beat him to the Best Director award.
