So much that we “know” about an awards season can just be thrown out the window. But of course, there will always be those who claim to have “the knowledge.” Don’t let ’em fool you.

'Lincoln' dominates North Texas film critics awards

The North Texas Film Critics Association has thrown another log on the fire for Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” the film’s second critics Best Picture prize of the season. The film also won Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Anne Hathaway (Best Supporting Actress) and Claudio Miranda (Best Cinematography) kept it from being a clean sweep. The Black Film Critics Circle has jumped on the “Zero Dark Thirty” bandwagon, handing the film Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress honors. “Django Unchained” and “Lincoln” each won a pair of awards, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz) for the former, Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis) and Best Ensemble for the former.

'Argo' wins big with Florida Film Critics Circle

The Florida Film Critics Circle has joined a recent build for Ben Affleck’s “Argo” in the critics awards circuit, handing the film Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay honors. Daniel Day-Lewis and Jessica Chastain added to their lead actor and actress haul, while Philip Seymour Hoffman and Anne Hathaway were singled out in the supporting ranks.
