Finally someone would like to shake things up a little bit again. The Central Ohio Film Critics Association has chosen Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” as the year’s best film, and not only that, but given it five awards, including Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Score and Best Ensemble. Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for “Lincoln” while Jennifer Lawrence took Best Actress for “Silver Linings Playbook.”

'Holy Motors' tops Film Comment's list of the year's best

The FIlm Society of Lincoln Center’s annual survey of film critics, journalists and editors left Leos Carax’s “Holy Motors” at the top of an auteur heavy list of films from fimmakers such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Wes Anderson, among others.

More countries enter foreign-language Oscar race as deadline looms

With the deadline for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar submissions on October 1, a number of countries have officially entered the fray in the past week. Among them are France, with a terminal-disease drama that could be a sleeper, and Russia, which has caused an outcry with the selection of an expensive Nikita Mikhalkov bomb.
