Screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have apparently been trying to get their project, “Big Eyes,” about feuding artist couple Walter and Margaret Keane for years. They’ve finally secured a progressive track, reports Deadline, with Tim Burton set to direct and The Weinstein Company closing a deal to fund and distribute. Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams, fresh off awards attention in the Weinstein-distributed “Django Unchained” and “The Master,” will star.

Tim Burton on Ray Harryhausen, stop-motion and the personal touch of 'Frankenweenie'
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 1:02 pm · February 4th, 2013
The last time Tim Burton made the awards press rounds, he was a nominee for 2005’s “Corpse Bride.” Interestingly enough, after a few decades in the live action trenches carving out his own identity and aesthetic on the screen, it’s been only in the animation arena that Oscar has taken notice. He’s back again this year as a nominee for his most personal film in some time, “Frankenweenie.”

Trailer for Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows' promises funnier vampires than 'True Blood' and 'Twilight'
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 5:25 pm · March 15th, 2012
Tim Burton’s work has been on a bit of a “meh” slope in recent years, and “Dark Shadows” was really starting to look like just another obvious piece of material for him to play around with before moving on to the next. But judging by the recently released trailer, the film might just have its share of inspired moments.

Trailers for 'The Avengers' and 'Frankenweenie' make for a nice antidote to awards season
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 1:12 pm · March 1st, 2012
Now that the Oscar dust has settled and the early-year dumping ground has come to a close, studios are beginning to float materials for their (hopeful) moneymakers out there. Two trailers have dropped this week, for “The Avengers” (opening May 4) and Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” (which doesn’t hit until October).

My favorite Oscar win: Anton Furst and Peter Young for 'Batman'
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 9:40 am · February 22nd, 2012
The spring and summer of 1989 were dominated by a solitary image — the Batman logo — plastered on lunch boxes, hats, posters, anything marketable. It was a beautiful image, a painting by Anton Furst, in fact, boldly stretched across the film’s one-sheets and cut off on the sides, indicating that, indeed, this film would be big, too big even for the poster.
