It’s fitting that Nora Ephron’s swan song, the play “Lucky Guy,” calls the Broadhurst Theatre on West 44th Street home. The venue sits around the corner from the old New York Times Building that housed the operations of the Gray Lady for 94 years. And Ephron’s play, while an account of the rise, fall and vindication of New York journalist Mike McAlary, is just as much a celebration of the profession the author, filmmaker and playwright once called her own.
Nora Ephron's Broadway hit 'Lucky Guy' with Tom Hanks is a profound, poignant swan song

Tom Hanks and Matt Damon stop by Stephen Colbert to promote 'Cloud Atlas' and rib 'Argo'
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 8:48 am · October 26th, 2012
Tom Hanks has been out and about plenty this week promoting today’s release of “Cloud Atlas.” I caught him on Letterman earlier this week, wonderful as ever, the perfect salesman. And yesterday, he showed up at The Colbert Report to engage in a little Halloween sketch built around that salesmanship.

Everything I’ve heard about the ambitious ensemble project ends up pointing to “it’s not for everyone,” but each new nugget certainly makes me think it’ll be for me.

George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Michelle Williams and more turn out for Palm Springs awards gala
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 1:05 am · January 8th, 2012
I’ve never attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. It’s a key stop along the Oscar trail his time of year, very competitive with the Santa Barbara Film Festival. The two duke it out for honorees, one reticent to honor talent that the other has chalked up for an award. Which is obviously silly. But it seemed time to give it a go.
