'The Avengers' and 'Silver Linings Playbook' win big at the MTV Movie Awards
Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 8:36 pm · April 14th, 2013
The most interesting takeaway of tonight’s MTV Movie Awards wasn’t necessarily that “The Avengers” predictably scooped up the prize for Movie of the Year. (Though, I say predictably, but I’m clearly garbage at guessing these things.) No, more interesting was that the MTV crowd gobbled up David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook” with a spoon, handing the film three awards of its own on the evening. Add that to its awards season tally and eight Oscar nominations and you’re talking about one wide-ranging crossover hit. A pity, then, that star Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t on hand to share in the spoils (and pick up her own pair of popcorn trophies).

Kristen Stewart, 'Terminator 2,' Jim Carrey: 10 fun facts about the MTV Movie Awards

'Django' and 'Ted' lead MTV Movie Awards nominations as 'Twilight' nearly shut out

There was a time, I think, maybe, when the MTV Movie Awards were kinda neat. But when you’re talking about an organization that doesn’t want it even whispered that it was celebrating its 30th anniversary (lest the kiddies think it’s old school), well, you get “Best Shirtless Performance.”

Bella versus 'Bellflower'
Posted by Roth Cornet · 7:46 am · November 21st, 2011
It’s possible that two more divergent explorations of the agony and the ecstasy of love could be found. Possible. But the synchronistic release of the micro-budgeted, darkly masculine, fantasy of love “Bellflower” vs. the blockbusting female fantasy “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” warrants a mention and a brief examination.
