The Writers Guild of America (WGA) handed out top film honors to the screenplays of “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “The Imitation Game” Saturday night. On the television side, “Louie” and “True Detective” were favorites, winning two prizes each.

The Writers Guild of America announced nominees in the film categories Wednesday. A number of ineligible titles made for a list that could differ quite a bit from the Academy’s.

'Artist,' 'Tinker,' 'Shame' and 'Marilyn' among contenders not eligible for WGA

As happens every year, a list of potential Oscar nominees is ineligible for WGA consideration due to a number of issues (signatory concerns, paperwork avoidance, etc.). This year, though, the list seems particularly long.
